Manchester United are keeping a keen eye on Wigan winger Antonio Valencia, according to Latics chairman Dave Whelan.
“We’ve got some fantastic young players here and we’re going to get some clubs chasing them,” Whelan told The Wigan Observer. “That’s football. If you’re a professional footballer you want to win things, I understand that. We will keep them as long as we can.
“We have a good team and a great spirit. Steve Bruce has instilled belief. The goal from Valencia against Man City was stunning, I know Man United have been watching him.” (Daily Mail)
Valencia has been a breakout star for Wigan this year. His pace on the wing has been superb to this point, and from the looks of things, it has really allowed the Latics to have width on the pitch.
What would United supporters think about a move for Valencia?

Would be a perfect signing considering Nani isnt that consistent and Park is more likely to get injured.

Would be a perfect signing considering Nani isnt that consistent and Park is more likely to get injured. If Nani can add consistency to his play, we wont need him

considering the fact that ronaldo will leave the club eventually, we do need a winger. however, the replacement should be someone of the same calibre. someone who can play on both flanks at be deployed to a central position if necessary. a gooo goal scoring record will be a bonus too. if SAF is convinced that Valencia can do this job, i would fully support his decision. but at the same time, i think the club should look for a new No 7 elsewhere. it takes a very special player to fit in that No 7 jersey.

ye a think he would be a good addition to the squad,a think a would use more nani..up front as a striker as he likes to do the running,if he can get the shots off he can score good goals but in the position he is at the moment a think he needs more of a chance,he does seem to hold the ball a bit to much & gets rooney & ronaldo thrust rated but he needs games so he can fit in as a pass & move attacking football.we ain’t seen the best yet a don’t think..but goals & movement he has you can see the potential, so glad we brought in anderson aswell when we did..was 1 of the best moves we did in my opinion, very a team player.say if we did bring in valencia,a would be also tempted to get velesco also, for the likes of giggs & scholes when there can’t play or could even go at the end of the season with giggs been centre mid for a reason of his age.there have done so well for the club,a would hate it when fergie left cause we would need a very good manager..not someone outside the club..but inside,a would like giggs to take it..like keane did sunderland..he would be good at picking players & help from utd staff behind.

would be an interesting signing.certainly has the pace and the ability but at what price?an added alternative would be schweinsteiger.whatever happens utd will be fine.the lost plenty of class players before and the same was said when becks, keane, van nistilrooy, stam etc left and they have continually won trophies!
