European Hall of Fame honours England’s Top TEN managers and coaches of European Football: Would Liverpool, Manchester United, et al add anyone to the list?
by offsidetrap on October 8th, 2008The National Football Museum will honour some of England’s greatest European legends tonight at an ceremony commemorating their success on the world’s biggest stage. This is truly a who’s who list of footballing greats!
Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
Kenny Dalglish, Kevin Keegan and Bob Paisley have been selected in a 10-strong list of the greatest players and managers based on their achievements in European competitions.
The list is completed by George Best, Sir Bobby Charlton, Brian Clough, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Robson, John Charles and Sir Matt Busby. (Liverpool Echo)
It got those of us here at COS thinking: Is the current list missing any big names? Mind you, this list is compiled of players and managers that had superior success in European competition, so that takes out a number of players that could have been considered. But we figured if anyone could add a name to the list, it would be the COS masses!
Leave us your list, or another name of an England great who should have been honoured as well.

Based on number of european trophies won - its got to be Bob Paisley. Three European Cups and a UEFA cup. And the three ECs were won with basically three different teams, not just one great team that may have won 2-3 in a row. He had to rebuild and then come back with another winning squad. That’s great management.

Ian Rush should be inducted too

Where’s Wenger in this list? Reached a final, won leagues, and all this by bringing through young european talent and playing breath taking football. Another major win at Liverpool and Rafa will be in there for sure. To win the Champions league with Liverpool, the UEFA with Valencia, and overhaul Real and Barca in the league is some feat! If he wins the league with Liverpool or even another European Cup then surely that should be recognised??

Ian Rush and Arsene Wenger were inducted 2 years ago and, as the original article said, Bob Paisley was inducted last night. Benitez will get his day, I am sure. I was lucky enough to get invited and it was an absolutely superb night.
