Juventus set to bid for £8m Arsenal STAR: A player Wenger can live without?
by Mr Comfort on October 10th, 2008This much maligned Gunner is often seen as a weak link in Wenger’s talent filled squad and now it appears Juventus are sniffing around for this Ivorian.

Juventus are weighing up a move for Arsenal’s utility man Emmanuel Eboue in January and will attempt to lure the Ivory Coast international with the prospect of regular first-team football. (Daily Mirror)
Juventus are poised to make a move for Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue in January.
The 25-year-old defender has raised a few eye brows in Turin for his pace and power, something which has been missing in Juve’s backline this term. (goal.com)
£8m rated Eboue has been better this season than last but still looks to me like a player who, injuries permitting, shouldn’t be a first team starter. Last term he was dire and his attitude angered the fans greatly and whilst he has dug in and been more impressive this term he is still a player that Arsene can let leave without losing too much sleep. Do Gunners fans think that Wenger should sell if Ranieri puts in a worthy bid?

I have always thought that 95% of Arsenal supporters really know nothing about football and the comments about Eboue confirm this.

I’ll drive the fucker to the airport meself!

Fantastic!!
yemmy (usa) - October 10th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
we gat some kids supporters that ain’t know nothing about soccer. Eboue is the kind of player we need in this team.
patrick (olc) - October 11th, 2008 at 12:24 am
he may not be the best we’ve got in his position but at least we have cover. if really need to let him go….trade another from juve. im sure they have someone we can use in return.
cally gooner - October 11th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Yes, I’d let him go for that money, but some of the comments are so ignorant. He’s a right back, and quite good in that position. Wenger , not unreasonably knowing Sagna was better, tried him on the wing and it didn’t work out- not Eboue’s fault. I presume Diiorrou is cover if he goes .
dis is sad - October 11th, 2008 at 12:54 am
i must say i agree with my guy john over there. eboue has been one of r best players on the pitch this season. i feel as he continues to learn his trade in midfield, he is really starting to slowly prove his worth and importance to the team. even if he wasnt a starter (which i feel right now he deserves to start. ahead of walcott who is having an inconsistant season so far, with nasri on the other side), he is an excellent team player. your forgeting eboue also brings the best out of sagna who can make his runs down the wing b/c he knows eboue would be there to cover him. even when he had to play in central midfield, he was a world beater but he played solidly durin the (i belive) 2 games he was there. he has shown he can switch sides on play on the left (which i am starting to feel he is better on that side). guys please watch games before u come on here n talk rubbish
Smudger - October 11th, 2008 at 12:59 am
Eboue is a utility man at best.
Also, Arsenal “STAR” ? Are you havin’ a bubble?
DAVID - October 11th, 2008 at 1:36 am
ARSENE WENGER NEEDS TO BE SMART HERE. HE WANTS GIOVINCIO AND JUVENTUS WANT EBOUE JUS SELL EBOUE TO JUVENTUS AND GIOVINCIO TO ARSENAL. AND U COULD SELL BOTH 4 THE SMAE PRICE IT MAKES COMPLETE SENSE
patrick (olc) - October 11th, 2008 at 1:57 am
eboue is actually a very good team player with some individual flair in him and also posses quite a good engine too…i wud be alittle sad if he was to leave our great club. if a team like juve has intentions of bidding for him…that shud say something right? personally i hope our professor AW will do wats best for our club..
Weedz - October 11th, 2008 at 2:17 am
If he`s a winger, get rid of him, `cause he can`t shoot goals. And if he`s RB cover for Sagna, at $8m, he`s too expensive to be a bench sitter. He`s too short for us if AW tries to use him as a DMF, along side Cesc in a 4-4-2 formation. But if AW goes 4-2-3-1, which he has already done this season, then Eboue has a position tailer-made for him. He is a very good footballer, who is very athletic and can run all day. Last season I hated him, but so far this season I`ve been more impressed in Eboue than I have with Fabz.
Fernando - October 11th, 2008 at 2:19 am
why the fuck do you always write STAR no matter who the player is! sorry but last time i looked eboue, pennant and every other person linked with moves away from respective clubs dont fall into the category of STAR player or they wouldnt be getting sold!
ashley - October 11th, 2008 at 3:53 am
John,
You have obviously never seen any of the Arsenal games.. he is a cheat and at best just cover for sagna.. let him go and use the money to get in a central mid fielder to support cesc.
Surrey Gunner - October 11th, 2008 at 5:50 am
What a fickle bunch you are, all the summer we had 250+ players joining Arsenal, complaints we had a paper thin squad full of young plares, players leaving and yet you here saying its alright to lose a another player.
Eboue rarely get the credit for games where he plays well, he also adds some steel and backbone to the side, and the opposition hates playing against him.
Please get off his back, and keep him
Stacato - October 11th, 2008 at 8:11 am
Eboue is just the sort of player Arsenal should keep. Arsenal have too many flair players and very little steel and aggression..Eboue offers that and if we sell him we’ll become even weaker..
But some fans just love to hate him and want to see him go ..Arsenal fans are their own worst enemies…
I hope wenger does not sell him…
stav - October 11th, 2008 at 9:14 am
I think eboue has shown some character this season, he was awful last season, but has dug in and shown some versatility. Hes got pace and some skill, I think there;s still a lack of composure, but Wenger can see the quality in training and just wants him to show it when it counts. Also, he s very popular in the team and that adds something you cant measure….8M is quite a lot though!
DutchGooner10 - October 11th, 2008 at 11:00 am
@Surrey Gunner & Stacato
I agree with your reading. I think most people are angry with him because he isn’t a show boat on the technical aspects of the game.
We all love to see the velvet skills but it ain’t giving us enough teeth in certain games. Keep Ebou.
alan B'stard M P - October 11th, 2008 at 11:20 am
fuck him off! And Sagna too. the reason ? I don’t like his hair. Wot a fuckwit! Honestly!
Anonymous - October 11th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Eboue is a liability to the arsenal and definately not worthy of a starting place on the arsenal team. His temperament both on and off the pitch is infuriating and i cant see why wenger has not seen this already. To cash in in him for 8million would be wishful thinking considering his limited abilities but anything in the region of 2 million would suffice. I only hope these rumours are true after all because so many of them on this website are fabricated!!!
alan B'stard M P - October 12th, 2008 at 5:31 am
enger, despite his obvious talents, can still be a moron
rosey - October 12th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Dis is Sad, you are talking total and utter cack. Eboue is an embarrassment to all true fans. He is a decent full back, but Sagna is better, he is not a utility player, because utility players, by definition, can play in more than one position, Eboue is shit in every other position he has played in. Please don’t try to tell me that he can play in CM. The only reason Wenger has tinkered with his favoured 442 is because we didn’t sign a quality CM in the summer (that was ready) as AW believed Diaby was the answer with Denilson as support. Eboue has played due to the depth of our squad and no other reason. 8 mil? I’ll personally give him a piggy back to Turin. In addition, he is a cheat and a total embarrassment
