Manchester City boss makes Blackburn STAR his top priority in January: He would be a fantastic addition!
by offsidetrap on October 11th, 2008Manchester City may have Jo and Robinho at the striker spot, but that still won’t stop manager Mark Hughes from going after another class striker to pair with the Brazilian duo.

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has made signing Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz his top priority in January. (Daily Mirror)
Hughes has made it clear from the start of his tenure at Man City that he wanted Santa Cruz at his club. In the summer window it appeared to not be a matter of if, but when the striker would join the club. But with the addition of Roque’s brother to the Blackburn, this deal could be even more difficult to finalise. One would assume that Man City would almost surely have to make this a packaged deal. Regardless, the addition of the Paraguayan ace to the club would be a massive boost to their quality.
What do City supporters think about the idea? Would you like Hughes to go after Santa Cruz in January?

I am of the opinion that Santa Cruz maybe a bit of a one season wonder. In Germany he was constantly on the injured list and was never considered prolific. This season seems to have been a return that form. I for one would be suprised if we made the same offer let alone an improvement. There are much better out there, and now we have the backing I fully expect us to go after them.

I wonder… He did nothing before Blackburn, and has done nothing under Ince since Hughes left. While Hughes may well feel that he can get him playing again, he could rather decide to save his money and do the same trick with Benjani. And of course Bojinov will be back before January to pair up with Petrov. We should rather go for Tevez if he feels the need for yet another striker. United can’t afford him, even at the knock-down price, so it could be a good opportunity to get someone cheap while concentrating on the defence and midfield.

jo and robinho would do great together and all the other strikers will be back in jan so we dont need another striker we only need a left back.
