Arsenal player calls on team-mates to ‘change attitude’ if the club are to win something this season

It appears as though the Gunners’ target this season is to win a piece of silverware. Whether the Carling Cup counts is open to discussion, maybe an FA Cup is really the bare minimum, while a strong showing in the Premier League and Champions League is pretty important. So far this season, Arsenal have had some decent performances, although they have dropped too many points in the league after average opposition. One of their key squad members has called for an improvement!

Cesc Fabregas is arguably Arsenal’s most important player, and fans will be worried that a failure to win any silverware again this season could result in the midfielder moving to Barcelona. While the Spanish midfielder continues to commit himself to the North London club, you can’t help but feel that he doesn’t want to spend season upon season with nothing to show for it. Setanta reports that the young gun feels his team must change their attitude.

“It’s only the beginning of the season,” said the Spaniard. “We started well last season and were first for a long time so now it doesn’t matter.

“All we can do is focus on the next game and learn from our mistakes. We’ve made a lot of mistakes on set pieces and defending and if we really want to win something then our attitude has to change.”

Indeed, the Gunners have conceded a fair few goals from set piece position this campaign, something which needs to be ironed out if they’re to challenge Manchester United and Chelsea for the league. You always get the impression that Arsenal are less likely to keep a clean sheet than their Big Four rivals, although they have also been guilty of missing chances in matches this season. Do supporters think that this team can win any silverware this season?
