Liverpool PAIR wanted by Premier League club: Good deal for all parties.
by Mr Comfort on October 14th, 2008Rafa has a large squad at his disposal and as such it would make a great deal of sense for him to consider this deal from this newly promoted Premier League club so that these youngsters could get some much needed playing time in the top tier.
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis hopes to boost his midfield in January by sounding out Liverpool.
The Potters hope to take Liverpool youngsters Nabil El Zhar and Lucas Leiva on-loan for the second-half of the season.(tribalfootball.com)
It’s a brave move by the Potters manager but it could well just work, after all with all due respect Stoke will not be rivals for the title chasing Anfield outfit and therefore loaning out these two talented internationals. Lucas Leiva managed a handy 20 starts last term but seems lower down the pecking order now but is clearly still a player that Rafa values. Nabil El Zhar has had less of a look in at the club but has masses of potential and could do with a run of starts with a club such as Stoke City. Do Liverpool fans believe that either Lucas or El Zhar will be established stars of the future?

Let El Zhar get a run out…we might need Lucas when things become streched, and players become tired towards midway through the season. For a team like Liverpool who are competing in 4 competitions still it might still be worth hanging onto the extra quality players who could make a difference; rather than make the quick buck. Rafa would be insane not to let Lucas and/or El Zhar play a role in either the Carling or FA cup rounds especially when you want to rest the likes of Torres and Gerrard. Remember, without those two firing on all cylinders any potential success in either Europe or the League could be out of touch…by say, a touch of class.
Perfect replacements for lesser, yet still important and competitive competitions especially for Lucas/El Zhar who need to impress when there is something at stake…maybe it isn’t right just to send them away so that they can simply “get games”. I think that if they want to stay at Liverpool, then they need to show their best in the other competitions we’re in.
At the end of the day Rafa will do what he feels like, and we will all be wondering what logic tempted him to do it. I’m still baffled by some of the crazy things he does…maybe he is crazy enough to loan them out….I dunno, if Rafa doesn’t appreciate the talent from Alonso then I can’t really see his reasoning for anything.
