This former Premier League title winning manager is apparently very keen on returning to England to show us just what we are missing, and guess who this source suggests he wants to manage?
Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has ambitions to take charge of Liverpool, it has been revealed.
The Daily Mail says sources close to Mourinho say that the ‘Special One’ would like to return to England – to manage Liverpool.
Mourinho, who endured titanic Champions League battles with the Merseysiders during his spell as Chelsea manager, has been open about his desire to return to England.
Upon leaving Chelsea in September last year, Mourinho remarked: “I will come back and manage here in England, but I don’t want it as my next step – it must be another country, another experience, another football.” (tribalfootball.com)
Liverpool fans don’t really like Jose, and in the main they love Rafa so the idea that this would happen must surely be pure fiction? Whilst it’s true Mourinho did a great job at Stamford Bridge, the west London club were not exactly a joy to watch under the Portuguese boss, so I am not sure the Merseyside outfit would stand for his somewhat negative footballing tactics.
The Special One was also well known for not exactly taking defeats in the Champions League in 05 and 07 to Rafa’s men with a great deal of respect. If Benitez did leave Anfield some time in the near future, who would the fans gladly accept as a replacement?
