Tottenham ready for £18m PLAYMAKER bid: Surely he’s worth more and is going nowhere?
by Mr Comfort on October 15th, 2008Apparently this Italian source suggests that Juventus will put in a bid for this Spurs new boy, but surely he won’t leave the club, at least not for such a paltry sum.
Juventus will test Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s resolve by placing an £18million bid for midfield playmaker Luka Modric.
The Croatian international only arrived in England this summer from Dynamo Zagreb, with the reputation as one of the most exciting talents in European football.
Certainly his performances at Euro 2008 whetted the appetite of the White Hart Lane faithful, but they have been disappointed with his performances thus far.
Reports in Italy’s Tuttosport claim Juventus are willing to make Modric their number one target in the New Year, with an offer of £18million set to be tabled. (fansfc.com)
I personally don’t believe that Modric will do a runner, but if the Spurs board were even considering cutting their losses on some of their summer purchases, then they sure as hell won’t accept such a bid for the Croatian international. It was always going to take a certain amount of time for the new signings to bed in with those already at the club, and Luka has not really impressed as yet. However, given time he will surely prove his worth.
Let’s face it, there are a number of players more in need of offloading than those who just arrived a few months ago, and I am sure all Tottenham fans know which players are just not giving their all to the cause. Do WHL fans think that Modric will stay at the club?

He wont move, not this early anyway. Maybe if we got relegated then yes, but he is not about to do a runner just yet. He has literally only just seen his best mate Vedran Corluka catch up and join him at the same club. They have only managed one or two appearances together so far as Luca has been carrying an injury, Its more realistic we might say good bye to Bentley than Modric, As DB seems to be a bit restless already as well as being dire so far in the league, after a great pre-season. Get Alan Hutton back and we will see a big difference, Or show more faith in Chris Gunter who is blinding for the wales team at the moment,

I still believe Modric will be our next Osvaldo Ardiles…he will not leave and must not leave…cos spurs need all the key players in this difficult period.

NOW THAT WOULD NOT BE A CLEVER MOVE.

I think Spurs could go the England Capello way. Only a little different,
GK) Gomes
RB) Hutton
CB) Corluka
CB) Woodgate
LB) Bale
CDM) Barry 16 million (well documented he is a childhood spurs supporter
RCM) Jenas
LCM) Modric
RS) Lennon (playing the same role as walcott using his pace.
CF) Julio Baptista 14 million ( same mould as heskey, only he can score lots more
LS) Roman Pavyluchenko (your never find another Rooney but im confident this guy will start knocking them in regularly once he clicks.
I think that looks very attractive on paper and can be achieved in just two purchases, plus it could easily be funded by all the deadwood we need to get rid of so we will still be in profit, in these credit crunching times.

Many forget that he came into the EPL carrying that knee injury from Euro 08. Billic and others have shown concern prior to the match vs England and have stated that he was carrying that injury. I don’t believe Modric has been firing on all cylinders since arriving in England. This break and was ideal for a bit of R&R. I think expect to see more of him know that he has this knee problem sorted out. He has also been the trigger for Bent scoring as many in pre-season and the league, think about it?He will not leave so soon unless there is an exchange with players from Juve or Ramos moving to Juve is true.
