News coming out about Robinho’s knock during Brazil’s recent World Cup didn’t sound too positive. But after reevaluating the injury, it appears that the Brazilian speedster will be fit for the weekend match against Newcastle. Man City fans rejoice!
Robinho is expected to be fit for Manchester City’s trip to Newcastle on Monday despite hobbling out of Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia yesterday.
City’s £32.5m signing from Real Madrid was substituted a little over an hour into the goalless draw at the Estadio Maracana after he was on the receiving end of a strong challenge.
Reports in Brazil suggest Robinho’s injury is not serious, while the player himself was more concerned with his own performance after the game.
“I was knocked on the thigh and it hurt a lot at the time,” the 24-year-old said. “The area where I was fouled became inflamed so I thought it was better to ask for a substitution.” (The Independent)
This is wonderful news for City, especially after it looked like they’d be without their star striker for a critical match. If anything, the news should only make them even bigger favourites in their match against reeling Newcastle.
