You all know the score already, this hapless Tottenham team have delivered the worst start to a season since the Titanic went down in 1912 – pretty bloody shocking stuff. The Guardian though, has an interview with a very serious Juande Ramos who already recognizes that relegation is something that Tottenham have to face head on.
When asked about his team and their craptastic start to the season Ramos said:
“This is the situation in this moment,”
“This is our mentality. In this moment, it’s relegation and we need to work very hard to go up the table. I don’t agree [that a team can be too good to go down]. If we can’t win matches it’s because we are not a good squad. It’s only possible to show on the pitch. It’s not possible to say ‘he is very good’ if he doesn’t score goals. We need to improve. We have to show we are worthy to stay up and avoid relegation.”
Pretty down to earth and sobering stuff from the Spaniard, who is also certain that Spurs have to get in the winning groove this weekend against Stoke. Ramos said:
“We need to win at Stoke. All of the games are important because at the moment this is a serious situation for us.
“I’m worried because we want to win but this is a normal situation we have had since the start of the season. We are working very hard.”
Stoke will be a tough challenge with their direct style, will Tottenham be able to handle them and finally get a win on the board?
