This Wigan Athletic man has set the Premier League alight, and is now the target for more clubs than you can shake a stick at. This source below suggests that a certain Mr Benitez has joined his rapidly-growing fan club!
It has been widely reported today that Benitez is interested in Zaki and he has joined a whole host of clubs now interested in the player.
Our Egyptian correspondent has informed us that the newspapers and internet in Egypt are buzzing about Zaki, they are following his progress with an obsession rarely seen before in Egypt and Zaki has now replaced Mido has the darling of Egyptian football, though Mido fell from grace sometime back.
Additionally our correspondent also reported that as well as Liverpool and Real Madrid many other clubs have been inked with Zaki and not just the clubs listed here, though the biggest is Real Madrid.(footylatest.com)
25-year-old Zaki has had an incredible start to his Premier League career, scoring at a rate of knots, a feat even more admirable given he has done so at Wigan Athletic. Steve Bruce will have a hell of a battle keeping the Egyptian at the club, similar in some ways to when Alex McLeish had Zarate at Birmingham last term.
The £11m striker is rightly taking the plaudits, and maybe a move for the striker makes sense at present, but Rafa will not make a big money move until he is certain that Amr is the real thing. He was in impressive form at Anfield on Saturday and, with Liverpool possibly needing another striker to give the club more strength in depth and take the pressure of crocked Torres, this deal is not so far-fetched, although my head says he could well opt for a move abroad to either La Liga or Serie A instead.
Were Liverpool fans suitably impressed by the Zamalek forward? Enough to consider a bid a good idea?
