Liverpool striker says manager made a mistake by not swooping for this ACE: Most would tend to agree!

Liverpool have been desperately looking for a striker to pair with Fernando Torres since he came to Anfield from Atletico last season. Robbie Keane was supposed to be the “one”; but most would agree that so far he hasn’t lived up to the hype. Can you imagine if Rafa had pulled the trigger for this striker? Liverpool would have had the most lethal pair in the Premier League!

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has hit back at claims from manager Rafa Benitez that signing Sergio Aguero was a risk not worth taking.

Aguero and Torres were together at Atletico Madrid and Torres has labelled his former colleague the main danger ahead of the Champions League clash between the two on Wednesday.

Torres signed for Liverpool last year, 12 months after Aguero was knocked back by Benitez for lacking experience. Benitez insisted: Two years ago agents were talking with us about players and Aguero was one of those but he was too young and [Atletico] paid big money for him, around 18 million euro [£14m] for a player who was a risk. Every coach makes a blunder or two over his career at his respective club, but this one looks to one of the hardest to swallow. Sure, maybe Aguero wasn’t worth the risk at the time, but maybe if Rafa would have looked at his signing of Mark Gonzalez and countless others that didn’t pan out, he would have realised that maybe he was worth a shot. Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20. But can you imagine Sergio Aguero and Fernando Torres bossing the pitch together? Now THAT is a scary thought.
