Serie A side WANT to wreck Arsenal’s £22m PAIR bid!
by Mr Comfort on October 20th, 2008Another day and another player that Arsene greatly admires is placed onto Claudio Ranieri’s wishlist!
PSV’s highly rated playmaker Ibrahim Afellay is one of Europe’s hottest properties at the moment and has already been linked with several European giants. Juventus are the latest side interested in the Holland international.
Afellay was linked with a move to London giants Arsenal last week. Manager Arsene Wenger reportedly considers the youngster as one of the future stars of European football and is eager to add the playmaker to his side. However, Arsenal are facing stiff competition for Afellay’s signature. According to Tuttosport, Juventus director Alessio Secco finally realizes that the Juve midfield is in need of a creative player instead of another holding midfielder and he has targeted Afellay as their primary object. The Turin side have started their Serie A campaign badly, not as bad as Tottenham of course, but bad enough to scare Claudio Ranieri into action, hence the players rapidly appearing to be linked with Juventus. In the summer, Xabi Alonso was said to be close to making the move to Italy from Liverpool, and he was also an Arsenal target. Now add to that Afellay and Yaya Toure, and you would be forgiven for thinking that the former Chelsea boss may be tapping Wenger’s phone!
But seriously, all three players mentioned would be good signings for the Emirates side, so it will be interesting to see who gets the upper hand in January. Do Arsenal fans believe either of this latest pair could be the right men for the club?

He plays for Holland and they are a great side. I would prefer Arsene Wenger get him and one more from Holland for synergy. It’s a team game after all
However, given he could be of some use to Arsenal, it is unlikely the Board or Wenger will have him. He costs money and won’t make any.
Arsenal are after talented kids they can buy low and sell high, to pay off the stadium debt, and to shove money in the shareholders ( majors only) pocket
The bastards!
