Manchester United are continuing their interest in Olympique Lyon star Karim Benzema.
Both Sport and France Football reports that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson recently met with Benzema’s father.
Benzema, 20, has a five-year contract with Lyon and United’s interest was confirmed by his agent this week. (tribalfootball.com)
Karim Benzema has astonishing talent and, sooner rather than later, he will leave the French league. Not least because he has already won the title in his hometown club four times, and he is still yet to turn 21! He has made claims that he wants to take Lyon as far as they can go, and cited an interest in mounting a very real challenge for the Champions League, but I simply don’t see Claude Puel’s side managing that feat any time soon.
The £40m-rated finisher is lethal to say the least, managing an incredible 26 goals in 38 league starts as well as a healthy raft of goals in the Champions League, which shows that he can perform at the highest level. I think it’s fair to say that he is one of the best in the world today, and Sir Alex is right to keep monitoring the situation, as I can’t see Karim still being at Lyon a year from now.
Do Manchester United fans think that Fergie should make a move for the French international?

benzema is one of the best young fowards in the world and im not sure if tevez has signed a contract to stay at united so maybe benzema a cheaper alternative to tevez who has done nothing really special so far in the season

The reason Tevez hasn’t done much this season is because he hasn’t hardly played. You don’t need a brain to figure that out, so even a dumb, thick idiot like you should know that. u F ing pea brain

I agree Tevez performances so far in the league this season haven’t been too bright, but its right that this is due to lack of games. He was unbelievable in pre-season and I know thats not full pace, but if we would have started with a full squad he would have been on fire. I think Benzema is awesome and would love to have him at OT, but I just canr see where he’d fit. Even if he did replace Tevez I cant really see Fergie spending 40 mill for him to be back up to Rooney or Berba.

I think Benzema could give us more than Tevez — long term.

Tevez is very good,he’s great! But i dont think he can outshine Benzee who is more skillful & score more goals than Tevez. Also his age counts wch ‘ll b good. But its ok! If utd can stick to Tevez.

We’ll have one less striker when Ronaldo leaves end of season, so Benzema is a great replacement I think. ARGENTINA ARGENTINA ARGENTINA !

Benzema is 20 years old and already has this amount of quality imagine the feets he could reach at 25. his talent is unquestionable he even scored a blinder against us last term. I know this may sound greedy but we should sign such a talent before anyone else (Chelsea, Man City, Real Madrid) does. As you can never have too much quality within a squad. Benzema is a straight wonderkid and it is important for a club our size, to continue to have quality of this stature at our disposal. Sir Alex should sign him when and if he become availiable beacuse the talent he has can and will strengthen us even further for now and for the clubs future after Alex leaves.

I think Fergie has realized that Man City will be a really powerful up front in 3 years. So he has to prepare his squad for that, cause he didn’t when Chelsea got took over did he? And look what happened to Utd back then!! They got stuck in a giant hole. So Fergie knows he’ll have to have an excellent young squad ready for that. I think Tevez is at his peak of his career now, he won’t be as good in 3 years.

agree with most of what is written in so much that benzema would be a great signing and something that fergie should look at.however that should not be at the expense of carlito tevez.who has been fantastic especially last season.his goals were very instrumental to our success and i have no doubt that it will be the same this season.so no do not get rid of tevez and with the amount of games to be played he will get more than a fair share of games.cj to say that he has reached his peaked is well…stupid considering he is 24yrs old and at a club that looks after its players(scholes, giggs, neville etc)so he has plenty to offer and sign benzema so that he can arrive for next season would be good business considering that all the other positions are all covered for the next 5 years or so.

this is a rubbish statement…no one knows abt tevez’s football.he is a genius…benzema isnt da kind of player we need….tevez hidup!!!!

Tevez is a great player, his work rate and commitment is rarely seen in the Premiership these days. He will put in 100% every game, we need players like this and it is important we keep hold of them. Benzema is a class talent but with Manchester City’s more or less unlimited suply of money it’s gonna be tough in January.

definately, hes one of the hottest prospects in football at the moment & what other club than utd he should go to,rooney has a few ideal strike partners at the moment but if he keeps shaving his head him & benzema will be the look alike 50 goal forwards.berbatov is here to stay & tevez i hope soo as he is also a top performer..he’s like aguero movement & strength, benzema shocked me the way he scored at utd from the position he scored & a think fergie would have been..a think he’ll come if fergie & the staff behind give it to lyon..ronaldo that day performered amazing again use his skill & now wheres he at!!!!!
mann utddd!!!! 4 lifee!
a say welcome benzema! every fan of utd would welcome him.the champions league & prem will be always avaiable & he might even enter the top goal scorer in the premier ship.
