Paul Ince should get ready for a raft of offers for his star striker, and he can add Villa to the ever-growing list of interested suitors!
Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill plans to use Marlon Harewood as bait to land Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz in an £18million deal.
O’Neill failed with bids in the summer for the Paraguay striker and West Ham’s Dean Ashton.
Rovers boss Paul Ince is a fan of Harewood, who has started just one league game for Villa since arriving from West Ham in 2007. Villa hope Rovers accept Harewood and cash sum for Santa Cruz. (The Mirror)
This would be one hell of a move for Martin O’Neill’s side, that already has an impressive array of attacking talents. Including Marlon Harewood in the deal confuses me slightly. Whilst he does give 100% to the cause, the former West Ham man isn’t the kind of talent that is likely to make Paul Ince consider the deal viable. Things at Villa Park are looking pretty good at present, with a decent start to the season and UEFA Cup football to look forward to, it does look like the Belfast-born manager is making good solid progress at a club that really deserves to be at the top six end of the table.
Do Aston Villa fans feel that the club could secure some silverware this season or even a top four finish?
