How much is Keane to blame for Liverpool’s 2 dropped Champs League points?
by Dexter on October 23rd, 2008The final score between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool was 1-1, but that doesn’t tell the whole story at all. Liverpool dominated in Madrid, and had a number of chances to win it, most noticeably when Robbie Keane fluffed a simple chance by trying to do a fancy backheel; something that was pounced on by the hacks at The S*n.

Rafa Benitez was in a volcanic funk after Liverpool’s draw, the Spanish gaffer said through clenched teeth:
“I’m annoyed with Keane’s miss because you have to score from those positions. We didn’t finish the game off when we were in charge.”
“We were playing well and had it under control until the final third.
“We tried to be too precise. We passed and passed and tried to give the perfect pass.
“I think it’s a positive result. We have seven points and are not in a bad position.
“But we conceded on 83 minutes so that’s disappointing and it feels like we have dropped two points.” (The Sun)
So how much of the blame should Keane shoulder?
And the annoyance doesn’t end there for Rafa. A trio of players - Keane, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso - all went off injured. With Liverpool’s weekend showdown against Chelsea looming on the horizon, things are not looking good for the Reds.

What utter nonesense!!!!!
How about we got a point because Keane scored our only goal? Also at what point did Raffa say “I’m annoyed with Keane’s pass…”? He didn’t say that and he certainly didn’t say it through gritted teeth!!!
Very poor excuse of an article! 0/10

I think Robbie is having an attitude problem…quite evident in his post match interview…he thinks he is indispensable…if Torres was fit I bet Rafa would have benched him for a few matches…

I’m not sure if I would blame Keane’s “I want to be Ibrahimovic” moment for the two points as much as I would the missed penalty call when Riera was in the box or Benayoun’s disallowed goal for being offside.
