Sir Alex continues to look at new players with which to build his next generation of title chasers and with that in mind he has been tracking this Bilbao duo.
Manchester United are maintaining their interest in Athletic Bilbao pair Javi Martinez and Fernando Amorebieta.
Both youngsters recently signed new contract extensions with Bilbao, but that hasn’t put off United, which had scouts in the stands for their recent clash with Real Valladolid.
Amorebieta at 23 has shown great ability to play at the heart of defense and has also got a lot of experience already at such a young age. Maybe this is the player Fergie wants to partner Johnny Evans with at the Center of defense for the future.
Javi Martinez is the younger of the two at 20 years of age and has already played 69 games for his current employers and finding the back of the net thrice. (Soccerglobe.net)
It does look like Sir Alex is more keenly looking to the future and with that in mind and with the wish of bringing a new set of talent through these two La Liga players look like a good solid pair of players. Newcastle are said to also be after Amorebieta but given the uncertainty of the situation at the north-east club it would appear that United would hold the upper hand in that race. £12m is the figure said to be between the Old Trafford outfit and this young pair which in today’s market is a bargain and they would add even more depth the clubs squad and be first team players of the future. Do Manchester United fans like the look of this pairing?
