The FREE signing that would be a PERFECT Liverpool buy!
by Mr Comfort on October 23rd, 2008This German international looks more than likely to be running out his Bayern Munich contract and is being chased by half the Premier League, so maybe Rafa should consider making an approach?

Bastian Schweinsteiger is remaining tight-lipped on talk of a new contract at Bayern Munich.
The 24-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and he has been linked with Premier League sides including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea after revealing he has always held an ambition to play in England.
But, amid reports he is seeking €6 million (£4.7 million) a year, Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness said at the start of the season that he would be offered a new deal if his performances warranted it, and an exceptional performance in the 3-0 win over Fiorentina suggested he may have done enough.
Yet Schweinsteiger insists his form is not motivated by the offer of a pay rise.
“I do not have the idea of a new contract in my head when I am playing,” he told Bild. (Setanta Sports)
Schweinsteiger was one of the successes of Euro 2008 and is a very exciting player to watch, a player who neatly bridges the midfield and attack and with an eye for goal and a good turn of pace and a questionable disciplinary record so therefore not afraid to put in a tackle maybe Benitez would be wise to monitor the situation. The 24 year old has a wealth of experience to draw from and is the kind of signings that fans want to see, his direct combative style would surely endear him to the Anfield faithful and if he comes at no cost then he is even more worthy of the Rafa’s attention. Do Liverpool fans feel that turning attention to this world class talent would be a good idea?

Schweinsteiger would be a fantastic buy for Liverpool, he can play anywhere across the attacking line and would take much of the heat off Gerrard.
At 24, he has a good few years ahead of him and should reach his prime in 2 to 3 years, about the time Gerrard will be reaching the point of retirement.
IMO Rafa should go all out to get this player before one of the other top teams in England.

well, he has still to transform form a very talented but inconsisent player into a consistent world-class one. he’s very close and this year could be the year for him.. he’s probably together with Ze Roberto the only Bayern Munich player who has performed on a constant high-level so far.
like Podolski he’s quite overrated outside of Germany, especially in England, but if he’s available on a free, i’d pay his flight to Merseyside.

to be honest i havent a god arsed clue where the hell this rumour came from but i do like the sound of it.
we’d wanna be playin him out wide. cos we aint sacrificing gerrard and mascha for him in the centre, riera or kuyt could play second fiddle? and i prefer kuyt up forward to robbie keane? i personally dont like keane at pool and i want him sold in january. aguero would be my main prospect but fuck it

very good player. would probably be initially only a backup for gerrard as i don’t see him being a wide man neccessarily. although, i’d imagine he’d be loathe to be playing only as a sub.
also, imagine how much he would develop learning a lot from stevie-g and would make an obvious successor to that attacking central midfield role
trying to work out how we’d play him:
pepe
arbs-carra-agger-doss
masch-xabi
stevie-schwei-riera
torres

At no point does this article say he wants to go to liverpool or that liverpool are interested, the writer merely suggests it might be a good idea for benitez to look at him… pointless.
