Bastian Schweinsteiger is remaining tight-lipped on talk of a new contract at Bayern Munich.
The 24-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and he has been linked with Premier League sides including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea after revealing he has always held an ambition to play in England.
But, amid reports he is seeking €6 million (£4.7 million) a year, Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness said at the start of the season that he would be offered a new deal if his performances warranted it, and an exceptional performance in the 3-0 win over Fiorentina suggested he may have done enough.
Yet Schweinsteiger insists his form is not motivated by the offer of a pay rise.
“I do not have the idea of a new contract in my head when I am playing,” he told Bild. (Setanta Sports)

Schweinsteiger was one of the successes of Euro 2008 and is a very exciting player to watch, a player who neatly bridges the midfield and attack and with an eye for goal and a good turn of pace and a questionable disciplinary record so therefore not afraid to put in a tackle maybe Benitez would be wise to monitor the situation. The 24 year old has a wealth of experience to draw from and is the kind of signings that fans want to see, his direct combative style would surely endear him to the Anfield faithful and if he comes at no cost then he is even more worthy of the Rafa’s attention.
