‘We didn’t know what we were doing’ admits Tottenham player: Worrying times for supporters!
by stresster on October 23rd, 2008This latest admission from one of Tottenham’s most expensive summer signings might lead many fans to think that Juande Ramos is not the man to steer Spurs away from trouble. The Spaniard has now been at the helm at White Hart Lane for over a year, yet it still seems he’s having difficulty instructing his players where to position themselves.
David Bentley is no wall flower, as he’s demonstrated once again with these quotes in the Daily Telegraph. It’s difficult to imagine Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger being undermined in such a way, perhaps because their teams don’t run around like headless chickens in the first place! While the winger claims that Spurs are now getting their act together, why has it taken them so long?
“It’s been shocking, it’s been a bit ****,” said Bentley to talkSPORT magazine. “It’s been a difficult start, especially for me. I wasn’t enjoying it.
“It’s been difficult out on the pitch. We’ve not been together, we didn’t know where people were running, what people were doing. But I think we’re slowly starting to get settled and people are becoming more confident.”
What a frank admission to make, especially while your team are still in the mire. Do Tottenham fans think that Bentley is bang out of order to make such comments, or is he just telling it as it is? While it’s clear that the ex-Blackburn winger is a class act on his day, is he the sort of player you want in your team when it’s backs against the wall?

What a lod of crap. There is nothing wrong with Bentley saying what he said. the biggest problem spurs have had is the fact they have not had chance to gel and a result of this is what bentley described - so why should that be bang out of order. We have had 2 International breaks and the majority of the squad are gone so the only opportunity they have to practice together is when they aren’t playing every 3 or 4 days or away on international duty - so when is that? When are they supposed to practive and work together apart from match day? I feel sorry for Ramos becuase he has squad of strangers - Comolli should walk!

I know someone who works in Corporate Hospitality at Spurs. Bentlety has a box there so if often seen in the hospitality area with his mates after a game. Apparently, after the Hull game he was alleagedly slagging everyone off (players, staff, management) to anyone who would listen. Notvery professional.
It’s all well and good saying “We were shit” but you have to try and do something about it rather than blaming others and adding to your shitty highlights in your 1940’s haircut

Ask that idiot to play rather talk…
David Bentley - October 23rd, 2008 at 11:22 am
Fletchspur. I take issue with that. Yes, I do have a box and meet up with my mates after the games. When they ask me a question I try to give an honest answer but NEVER have I criticised the other players or the boss. Don’t believe everything your mate in hospitality says. If you give me his name I’ll look him up next time and ask him where he gets his stories.

Dear David
I’d worry more about how you are going to play tonight rather than searching through internet sites for stories about yourself. Priorities my dear fellow

Fletchspur
Thanks for your advice. We can’t train all the time you know. Anyway we have got the translations for the tactics tonight now so we are all in our rooms (except for Ledders who got a fright when he heard about the pumps being turned off at 4pm here and is downing a few grappas as we speak).
Ramos allows us some us-time to vist the hairdressers and give interviews etc so as my 8 oz of hairgel actually means I have to visit the hairdressers less than most I thought I’d check what was going on. I like to keep in touch with the fans and their opinions but can’t abide these unfounded rumours (unless I start them off).
Unfortunately we don’t know yet who will be playing where so the tactics are a bit of an Agatha Christie experience to be honest but rest assured that whoever plays will be trying for you fans. Love David x

PS Whether on the bench or the pitch I’ll try to give you a wave later x
gunner87 - October 23rd, 2008 at 12:06 pm
I really doubt that was the real david bentley, maybe a website owner who thinks that we believe a premiership footballer visits this site?? or jus a sado.
either way spurs look lightweight in midfield jenas has not developed as much as we all thought same as lennon etc….
bentley is not the man to get you out of this rut, he cant tankle / track back to save his life much like dos santos, lennon it is tom huddlestone. play him in the middle with O ‘ hara and another holding midfielder (jenas)? and have bent, frazer campbell and palychecnko. and you will win games.
this is from a gooner.

Dear David
LOL!! I’ll be watching out for that. Please do a big wave and then a bow for me as you take your first corner - I’ll be watching with interest
As for Ledders, maybe he needs the grappa to dull the pain
Oh david, is it really you
Love me x

REALLY!! NO SHIT
I though I’d made friends with a Premiership star. I feel really let down now. How could anyone be so nasty?
Agree about lightweight midfield though

I’ll give you a wave to but it’ll be the 2 fingered variety
Fletchspur
First corner (assuming we win one) I’ll tap my chest before I take it.
Gotta go, team talk (!) then warm up, then off we go! Wish me luck. x
