World-class striker just weeks away from Arsenal return: Just how important will he be this season?

Although Robin Van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor are both decent strikers, you sometimes feel that they could do with a well-earned rest, especially when they’ve had a couple of bad games on the bounce. Unfortunately, Arsenal aren’t blessed with a huge squad that can be rotated at will, while they have also been unfortunate with injuries in the past year or so. However, there’s some welcome news just around the corner for supporters.

Sky Sports reports that Eduardo is just three weeks away from featuring in the red-and-white of Arsenal once again. As we all know, the Croatian has been missing in action since February, breaking his leg at St Andrews which also marked the downturn in his team’s season. Could his return have the opposite effect?

Speaking at Arsenal’s AGM on Thursday morning, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: “Eduardo is three weeks away from playing competitive football.”

This is a boost to the Arsenal team on two levels. Firstly, they welcome back a player who is a lethal marksman, someone who could help score enough goals so that the Gunners win something this season. Secondly, it will also be a big morale boost to the squad, many of whom were distraught when the striker was so badly injured last winter. Are the supporters excited about seeing Eduardo return?
