Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool players feature in FifPro World XI

Many say that the Premier League is the strongest division in Europe, although the English top flight could only match the Primera Liga in terms of the players selected for the FifPro World XI today. 57,500 players in 42 countries have decided that the below footballers are the best on the planet – do you agree with the selections?

The Guardian reports that five players from the Premier League made the line-up:

2007-08 FifPro World XI

Goalkeeper: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)

Defenders: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), John Terry (Chelsea), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United)

Midfielders: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Xavi (Barcelona), Kaka (Milan).

Forwards: Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Fernando Torres (Liverpool), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)

Well done to Cristiano Ronaldo, who was named the Footballer of the Year after amassing the most votes altogether. Although this award is not quite as prestigious as the Ballon d’Or or the FIFA World Player of the Year, it’s a yardstick which indicates that the Manchester United number seven is likely to walk away with a whole collection of silverware over the next month or two.

Do you agree with the above XI or are there one or two glaring omissions?
