Chelsea to make HUGE £19m bid for Premier League STAR: But why?
by Mr Comfort on October 28th, 2008This source, and many others, suggests that Big Felipe is looking to make a big bid for a player that Liverpool almost snared in the summer, but why are they even considering it?

Liverpool had chased the England international all summer, but Luiz Felipe Scolari is now being tipped to make Aston Villa an offer of £17million for the player in the New Year.
“The players I have at the moment are good, but in the future I will look for more,” he told Sky Sports. “I know the English players and I want more English players in my team. I want to win in England.”
Barry would make an ideal partner for Frank Lampard in the heart of the Blues side, in a move which would also enhance his international ambitions with England. (fansfc.co.uk)
I don’t get it? Do Chelsea not have enough midfielders? Yes Essien is out injured but they also have John Obi Mikel, who has been pretty solid this season and a raft of others including Michael Ballack to call upon. If the idea is to bring in the player to play out on the left, he is still not needed. Don’t get me wrong I do rate Gareth Barry the Aston Villa man is at the peak of his abilities right now, I just don’t see the use in bidding big, and by some reports Martin O’Neill would in fact demand a fee nearer £19m for the England man so I just can’t see Scolari doing it.

Chelsea have 5 central midfieldersL Lampard, Ballack, Deco, Essien and Mikel. They lost one after 20 minutes of the first game. In the second game 3 of the remaining 4 played injured while the other was out for several weeks. Deco has only just come back from a month out. Ballack will be out for a month, Essien will be out until the new year. That’s why Belletti has played in midfield, not having played there for 8 years. Mineiro was brought in but has barely reached fitness. Another central midfielder is certainly needed.
However, it will not be shite like Barry, who is worse than fucking useless and not even worth £1.7m let alone £17m

I DON’T SUPPORT D PURSUIT OF BARRY AT ALL,ALL WE NEEDED NOW IS A STRIKER

Sorry but, where does it say that Chelsea ARE considering Barry? All LFS has said is that he would consider english players. He hasn’t once mentioned Barry - that is purely this contributor’s speculation (and maybe others for all we know) as to whom such an english player might be.

Agree with BSB. The usual bullshit.

Chelsea badly need a world class striker, more than enough midfield players.
They must quickly sell off below average players such as Malouda, Anelka, Kalou. Waste of club’s time and money with this lot

Barry? I don’t think barry is the answer for the problems that chelsea have. They need some pretty solid strikers.Mauloda maybe a great player but i am still not happy with the way he is playing and Anelka for me is not the kind of player who stamps his authority like drogba. Chelsea have to work a lot with DiSanto and Sinclair. If Chelsea want to go on play dominant and beautiful football then I do think its only possible for the comig generation. Don’t get me wrong because even though I see a new and improved chelsea side I still think they have to go up one level. I mean I seriously do think its time to teach those other so called big clubs that chelsea mean business.
