‘We are going to beat Chelsea’ claims cocky Hull City midfielder: Will he be eating humble pie on Wednesday?
by stresster on October 28th, 2008We’re not sure Phil Brown will welcome these type of comments made by a player who seemingly has no shortage of self-confidence. Yes, the Tigers are riding high in the Premier League after four straight wins, but they are massive underdogs against Chelsea this week, and many supporters would surely take a point if you offered it to them before the game.
This doesn’t include Geovanni though, with the midfielder stating that the Blues are set to suffer a second consecutive defeat at the KC Stadium. The Brazilian has been in superlative form for City this season, with a long-range equaliser at Arsenal the highlight of his season to date. However, Setanta reports that Hull aren’t done with inflicting damage on the big boys.
“Hull’s bright start to the season is not about luck but rather about hard work,” Geovanni told setantasports.com. “Big clubs should be wary of us because we are going to continue to surprise them.
“Chelsea will be next after Arsenal. The Blues have a tremendous squad but they just lost to Liverpool, which is a blow for their morale, so let’s take advantage of it.
“[Luiz Felipe] Scolari is a top coach and I do not doubt he will be a success at Chelsea, but I feel sorry for him because we are going to beat his team.”
With all due respect to Hull, surely their good run must come to an end soon? Phil Scolari’s team are massive favourites to land the three points at the KC Stadium, just as they did at newly-promoted Stoke this season. Will Chelsea prove too good for their opponents and force Geovanni to chow down on his words?

Nothing wrong with a bit of self-belief! Are you suggesting the Hull players should be expecting to lose?
