Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is ready to cash in on Aaron Lennon.
The England winger is set to be offered to Portsmouth in a cash-plus-player swap offer for Jermain Defoe, says the Daily Express.
Any indication that Lennon is available is sure to spark the interest of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, a long time admirer of Lennon.
Fernando Cavenaghi, currently playing for Ligue 1 team Bordeaux, is reportedly being chased by new Tottenham Hotspurs manager Harry Redknapp in addition to Premiership rivals Liverpool.
Cavenaghi has scored 22 goals in 35 appearances for Bordeaux, and his valuation currently stands at around £15m. A move to White Hart Lane seems more likely at the moment, given that Benitez will have to sell off players to raise the funds to purchase Cavenaghi, a barrier that new Spurs manager Redknapp wont face.
Liverpool Football Club are preparing an offer of £10million for Gareth Bale, according to reports. (Liverpool Daily Post)

Of the three mentioned by this source, Gareth Bale seems the most impressive and suitable purchase. However, now that Spurs appear to be on the road to recovery (even though they are still bottom of the table), he may not be so easily coaxed away from north London. Lennon would also be a good signing, but his inconsistency would be an issue, and I don’t see Rafa risking a move for the former Leeds man. As for adding another striker to the squad, I think Cavenaghi would be a decent purchase but not an earth-shattering one. Of this £38m trio, who would Liverpool fans like to see Benitez make a move for?
