This source suggests that Harry Redknapp will be buying an alarming amount of strikers and the three mentioned in this report will not come cheap!
Daily Star on Sunday reports today Tottenham is ready to enter the transfer market and sign three or four new strikers.
Wigan’s Amr Zaki is a close target. The player is currenlty on loan at the JJB Stadium until the end of the season. He could be sold in the January window if the bid is high enough.
Everton’s Nigerian forward Yakubu is another player mentioned as a possible target for Spurs, so is former Tottenham and West Ham player Jermain Defoe.
Defoe was signed by Redknapp and the player is a product of the great youth programme at West Ham. Defoe has also been on loan at Bournemouth, so the youngster should fit well in for Redknapp and his future plans at Tottenham.
There are a lot of names up in the air at the moment, but there is no doubt that Redknapp will make moves in the transfer market in January. (Soccervoice.com)
I guess it stands to reason that before Redknapp joined the club, Spurs were struggling to score, in fact they only managed five goals in eight games, however they have since netted 8 in 3 with the lions share of the goals coming from their strikers (four from eight) so maybe their need is not so great after all. Jermain Defoe of the three is the most obvious purchase and the one who would work best in the current set up. Amr Zaki netted again on the weekend and is proving to be one of the stars of the season but i still think its too early to get too carried away and don’t see him as a potential Tottenham signing. Yakubu is a very direct player who scores a great many goals without really doing much, i guess he is always just handily placed to finish off a move but i don’t think he will be leaving Everton and again i don’t see him as a Redknapp style purchase. Of the three mentioned in this report who do Spurs fans feel would be the best buy? Do the club even need another frontman given recent results?
