Spurs on verge of SEALING £6.5m transfer: Good deal for Harry!
by Mr Comfort on November 2nd, 2008This Tottenham full back has made it very clear indeed that he wishes to leave and, apparently, a deal will see him return to France very soon indeed.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has revealed he wants to leave Spurs and return to France.
The French-born Cameroon international has been a regular for Spurs recently, but is keen to join Paris St Germain.
The 24-year-old spent three years at Lens, having joined the club as a 10-year-old, before moving to Spurs in 2006 for a fee of around £3.5m.
“I’d love a return to France,” Assou-Ekotto told radio sation RMC. “Above all I would love to join PSG.” (BBC Sport)
Apparently, PSG are more than happy to help homesick Benoit fulfill his ambitions to return to France, and a fee of around £6.5m is said to be the fee it will take to complete the deal. Assou-Ekotto hasn’t exactly set White Hart Lane alight during his two year tenure at the club, but he has started all three of Redknapp’s games as boss, and has been pretty decent in the left back role. The former Lens man is a good prospect, but once a player makes it clear he wishes to leave, there is no point in trying to convince him otherwise, and I am sure that Harry is more than aware of that so expect this deal to be sorted out fairly swiftly.
Do Tottenham fans feel that Benoit was a player who could have been a big hit at the club, or do Spurs have better players to fill the left back berth?

Bale didnt play because he has had a terrible start to the season and judging by his performances so far if Utd bid £15mill then he can go as well!

Unfortunately this is from an old interview and quite out of context too. New leftback is needed though.

Bale will come good, mark my words. Why d’you think old Whiskeynose is chasing after him (like he did with Berbs) ! Anyways, we can always make a cheeky bid for Wayne Bridge and Cudicini at Chelscum…

Bill you obviously didnt go to the Bolton game where, IMO Assout-Ekotto was our best player. Defended very well, got forward and supplied decent balls into the box. Had solid game against A*****l as well

Bale is having a mare of late, but there is no point in hanging onto a player that does not want to play for us. To be fair, Ekotto has improved since Arry`s arrival and he would be a good squad player to have around, considering our injury record of players. All said and done, i think it`s farewell Ekotto, thanks for your service and welcome to The Lane Wayne Bridge?.

Cant see 6.5m for a player like him, if he’s worth that then i’m worth a million myself!!
Probably get what we paid for him, about 3million, although i’d like to see if Harry could inquire about their centre back Mamadou Sakho, reminds me a bit of a young Gallas.

“reminds me a bit of a young Gallas.” - What, a complete wanker!?

I actually like Benoit, sorry if that goes against the consenus. I am a season ticket holder, Shelfside, and think he has promise. He was injured formmost if not all of last year and had one full season before that when he was used sparingly. He has equiped himself well so far this season. He also likes to get forward and a combination of him/Bale/O’Hara on the left could work well. Unfortunately, he is not a Spurs player and never will be.

I agree with MA tho he was at fault for the Kuyt goal. Having been injured all of last season I think he should be allowed the chance to develop and show hat he can do. In any case, we have other transfer priorities such as another forward or two and a defensive midfielder and another centre back.
