Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has revealed he wants to leave Spurs and return to France.
The French-born Cameroon international has been a regular for Spurs recently, but is keen to join Paris St Germain.
The 24-year-old spent three years at Lens, having joined the club as a 10-year-old, before moving to Spurs in 2006 for a fee of around £3.5m.
“I’d love a return to France,” Assou-Ekotto told radio sation RMC. “Above all I would love to join PSG.” (BBC Sport)

Apparently, PSG are more than happy to help homesick Benoit fulfill his ambitions to return to France, and a fee of around £6.5m is said to be the fee it will take to complete the deal. Assou-Ekotto hasn’t exactly set White Hart Lane alight during his two year tenure at the club, but he has started all three of Redknapp’s games as boss, and has been pretty decent in the left back role. The former Lens man is a good prospect, but once a player makes it clear he wishes to leave, there is no point in trying to convince him otherwise, and I am sure that Harry is more than aware of that so expect this deal to be sorted out fairly swiftly.

Do Tottenham fans feel that Benoit was a player who could have been a big hit at the club, or do Spurs have better players to fill the left back berth?
