There are a host of top clubs monitoring the contract talks of the Barcelona starlet Gai Assulin as he has become disillusioned with his lack of first team chances at the Catalan club.
Assulin is only 17 but is already a full Israeli international, and his problem is that he has been restricted to just one substitute appearance for the Barcelona first team, while seeing his compatriots slowly being integrated.
Assulin’s negotiations are being handled by Pini Zahavi, the same agent as Giovani Dos Santos, and it is because of his demands for his clients that Barcelona decided to let Dos Santos join Tottenham rather than cave in to his demands.
But for Assulin it is the promise of first team football that he desires, and the gifted midfielder may decide to follow Dos Santos to White Hart Lane, or follow Cesc Fabregas to Arsenal, rather than join Chelsea or Man Utd where his chances may be more limited. (footylatest.com)
It seems that there are a few young players at the Camp Nou who are trying to get themselves better contracts and threatening to leave if they don’t get their own way, I guess the difference between Assulin and say Busquets, is that one has already proven himself in the first team (Busquets) and the other is still a very raw teenager who hasn’t even been drafted in from the B team.
Still, Gai is a player who has been attracting attention for a while now, even though he is still only 17, and is expected to be a star of the future. His turn of pace and attacking wing play have led to many likening him to Lionel Messi, so it’s not a surprise that Arsene Wenger is supposedly monitoring the Israeli international as a potential Arsenal signing.
