Greedy Chelsea supporter set to pocket £20k by selling winner’s medal

What would you do with a Premier League winner’s medal? Would you wear it all times, or perhaps frame it and put it above the mantlepiece as pride of place? It appears that this Chelsea supporter is doing neither and instead cashing in on his prize asset.

The Daily Mail reports that Sebastian Kayll has offered a pretty lame excuse as to why he’s selling Jose Mourinho’s 2005/6 winner’s medal after being the lucky one in the crowd to catch it. While some fans would think the item is priceless, this doesn’t apply to this company director.

Kayll, who has been a Matthew Harding Stand season-ticket holder since 1993, said: ‘Bonhams reckon there are four or five millionaire collectors of Chelsea memorabilia but if Roman Abramovich wants to pay £100,000 and put it in the Chelsea museum, then all well and good. It will be bitter sweet for me to sell.

‘As a Chelsea fan, it is a great memento but it was just sitting in my safe at home. Mourinho has moved on and Scolari is doing great things now, so it feels the right time.’

Would you do the same thing if you became the lucky recipient of a Premier League winner’s medal, or do you think that this Chelsea supporter is well within his rights to flog it?
