Tottenham boss set to give 16-year-old PHENOM a run in the UEFA Cup: Is he ready for first team football?
by offsidetrap on November 6th, 2008 4 commentsHarry Redknapp is prepared to gamble on a young 16-year-old in tomorrow’s UEFA Cup clash against Dinamo Zagreb. Can the youngster hold his own with the big boys?
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is considering blooding teenage sensation John Bostock in tonight’s UEFA Cup group match at home to Dinamo Zagreb.
Bostock trained with the first team yesterday, the second time Redknapp has called him in to for practice session with the big boys, and the 16-year-old will be in the bench at White Hart Lane tonight. (Daily Mail)
Well this is a surprise! Many know Bostock as one of the up-and-coming players at Tottenham; but how many thought he’d be getting a chance this early? Whilst it remains to be seen if he’ll actually get on the pitch, he apparently has caught Redknapp’s eye enough to practice with the first team.
Do Tottenham supporters expect great things from John Bostock? Is he ready for the first team at 16 years of age?

If he’s good enough he will come good and prove it, it worked for rooney and owen, lets face it the boy has something because we had to beat both chelsea and barcelona to his signature, and if barcelona are selling youngsters like dos santos and still wanted this boy he must be very eye catching

it’s high time that spurs give their youngters chance to show their potential on the pitch with the first team not the reserve or u/18 teams…look what happen to Taarab and a few more potential young players…they’re not given their chances
…..but Reknapp seems to change that and that’s good news and I hope Bostock will play some part vs Dynamo.

Be careful what you wish for. More young players burn out before they get to the top level than make it. Its not just skill its the mental ability to cope with it and adverse situations. This can actually do more harm to him than good.
I have been a lifelong fan and want the best for spurs but I don’t want them wasting talent either.
We have screwed up more things lately rhan got them right. Let the kid be a kid first before you try and make him a man
