Aston Villa players ‘made to look ordinary’ by Newcastle midfielder according to agent!

Many people regarded the Magpies performance on Monday night as the best of the season, with Obafemi Martins scoring a brace to help Newcastle United to a 2-0 victory. Conversely, it was one of Aston Villa’s worst displays of the season, although it can be easily explained according to this football agent!

Apparently the Villans were so shabby as Joey Barton shackled their midfielders so ably. The Daily Telegraph reports that, rather than keep schtum when your player is potentially going to be accused of racism, Willie McKay reckons that Martin O’Neill is ‘peeved’ due to the fact that Nigel Reo-Coker and Gareth Barry were stopped from running the show in the middle of the park!

Willie McKay has condemned criticisms of his client and said that Villa midfielders had been made to look “ordinary” by Barton during the game.

“I think Martin O’Neill is peeved because his two England midfielders were made to look very ordinary by Joey on Monday night,” he said.

McKay then went on to defend Barton over accusations of making racist remarks, saying: “It’s a nonsense. Who do you think scored Newcastle’s two goals on Monday night? It was a black lad [Obafemi Martins] and Joey celebrated with him. Are those the actions of someone who would get caught up in something like this?”

The agent doth potentially protest too much. It’s like when someone says ‘most of my best friends are black’ when accused of racism, as though it defends them against anything! Nevertheless, did the Newcastle midfielder make his Aston Villa counterparts look ordinary, or was it just a strong overall team performance from United that won the match?
