Spurs FIGHT Rivals for £5m STAR Striker!
by Mr Comfort on November 9th, 2008 4 commentsAgain this one time superstar international is linked with two Premier League sides who do not like each other, but who will win the battle for his signature if he does indeed leave St James’ Park?

Chelsea are lining up a January move for Michael Owen, with the Stamford Bridge club valuing the 28-year-old Newcastle striker between £3m to £5m. (The Sun)
However, they may face competition from Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, who is keen to bolster his striking ranks. (The Sun)
Michael Owen made yet another return from injury last week and yet again the loyal Toon Army fans stood to applaud him, but there patience must be wearing thin. However in the former Liverpool man they do have a proven goalscorer, even now he manages to score fairly often, it’s just that he doesn’t really stay clear of injury long enough for people to see just how deadly he can be! He can still do a good job and I can see why so many clubs are queuing up for a chance to sign him on the cheap. Do Tottenham fans think or indeed hope they can defeat their west London rivals Chelsea to this hitman?

As it stands, Spurs use 1 striker and Modric, if we bought Owen we’d have him, Bent and Pavylchenko for the one position.

We need and alternative ,maybe a versitile player who is a preditor in the box but also can play on the left ,the only person i can think off head is podolski..Cavenaghi an Zaki were both high on my list but now after seeing bent and modric linking up better and better.and with Pav being the straaight forward target man when bentley decides to cross the ball probley. I dont know . I still ha ve a hunch though that whoever signs Cavenaghi or Zaki .Will be laughing at the bargain they got by the end of the season .So maybe we should sign one of the.I dont know.

We have bigger issues than our strikers at this point. Our entire left side needs work, for example. Frankly, I don’t see why Chelsea need him either.

Spurs you are welcome to him, give us Bent in a straight trade and he`s all yours.
