This source suggests that Redknapp is lining up a bid to take this prolific, if somewhat immobile, striker to White Hart Lane.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is determined to test Everton’s resolve over striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
The News of the World says Redknapp believes he could tempt Everton hitman Yakubu, 25, south — and that a bid of £10million would be difficult for the cash-strapped Goodison club to turn down.
Toffees gaffer David Moyes would be a reluctant seller.
But Yakubu proved when he left Middlesbrough to join Everton that once his head has been turned by a deal he will move. (tribalfootball.com)
You can not argue about Yakubu’s strike rate in Premier League football, he has managed a dozen plus goals in each of the past five seasons. However there is a consensus that the Nigerian international doesn’t exactly get through his fair share of work on the field and does on occasion simply disappear from action. David Moyes may be ready to sell, given he has now captured Louis Saha, and has youngsters James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe to call upon.
However, I really don’t see the merit of buying the 25-year-old former Boro and Portsmouth man. Instead, surely a bid for former Spurs man Jermain Defoe would be a better move as Roman Pavlyuchenko can manfully be the player to call upon instead of the Yak? Who would Tottenham fans like to see bought in the January transfer window?
