Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves for a £10million bid from Liverpool for Gareth Bale and Liverpool are keen on Zamalek striker Amr Zaki, who is on fire for Wigan Athletic in a loan spell. (fansfc.com)
Spain and Valencia central defender/defensive midfielder Raul Albiol (23) is tracked by both Arsenal and Liverpool, but he could decide to stay at Valencia and extend his contract beyond 2011. (transfermarketweb.com)
Of the three, I would earmark Gareth Bale as the one who would really be a good purchase by the Merseyside outfit. The Tottenham youngster has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, but Rafa could really do with the former Southampton man, given the average performances of late from Aurelio and Dossena.
Zaki is a fine player, but I am not sure he is up to Liverpool’s standards, and it would be too naïve to base a bid for the player on such a short period of success. Albiol is a pretty good player also, but I feel that Rafa has enough in the way of central midfielders, but the Spaniard could be the kind of cover the club needs at centre back, especially if Hyypia leaves the club in the summer. Of these three, who would the fans most like to see at the club?

“Amir Zaki, who is on fire for Wigan Athletic in a loan spell”???…… So he scored a goal or two in the premier league, but if Rafa is seriously look to buy this play then god help us…… If he was that good why is he not playing for his club …. As for Albiol, we need proven players and definitely not another central defender/defensive midfielder

Spot on. Just because someone can score a couple of goals in the premiership doesn’t mean he’s the answer to our problems. Zaki isn’t that good.
As for Bale, it’s going to be tough now with Harry working his magic at Shite Hart Lane.
As for Allbiol…you’ve been playing too much football manager.

If we can afford to buy, then its Bale. Homegrown, young & experience in Prem League. That’s it.
