Liverpool set for £16m MIDFIELD ACE bid!
by Mr Comfort on November 11th, 2008Apparently as well as Valencia and Barcelona, Rafa should expect a call from these Serie A giants in relation to a move for the club’s number 14.
It seems that Juventus have not given up on signing Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso despite comments in the past about his pace and suitability to Serie A.
Italian radio has said that the hierarchy at Juventus still want the Liverpool playmaker and believe that Liverpool will now accept a more reasonable price that the one they were demanding last summer.
Alonso is still smarting from basically been touted all over Europe and the premiership so that Benitez the Liverpool manager could raise funds in the summer and would move given the opportunity.
Italian radio also indicated that Juventus had another Liverpool player in their sites but did not name him. (footylatest.com)
Having been on the verge of leaving the club in the summer, Xabi has been impressive in the Anfield midfield this term, but apparently that hasn’t stopped speculation that the Spaniard could well leave the club. I have always been impressed by Alonso and was shocked when it appeared that of all the midfielders at the club, Benitez considered the former Sociedad man the one he could afford to lose in order to finance the Barry deal, which thankfully went pear-shaped. Do Liverpool fans want Rafa to make sure their halfway line goal threat stays at the club, or can the team cope without him?

I wish this story would just go away and die somewhere until the end of the season, things are going ok,

at the age of 26, xabi has his best years ahead of him. he makes liverpool tick with his influence on the ball. big mistake to even think about losing him!

how about .. just a suggestion.
we sell xabi for say 10-12 million. for a part exchange with sebstian giovinco.
can play on the wings and would surely be a better player than pennant.
just a suggestion. let me know what you think.
