THE SUN: Manchester City will offer Jose Mourinho an astonishing £15million a year to take over as boss. (Blackpool Gazette)
It would be very hasty for the new owners of Manchester City to sack Mark Hughes, but it does seem that it will be a case of when and not if. It would be a brave man to bet that the former Blackburn Rovers man would still be at the helm come the beginning of next season. Sven should never have been sacked in the first place, and Sparky has been pretty decent in the face of the massive changes at the club in recent months, but Jose Mourinho could arguably claim to be a better bet for a club with top four ambitions and the former Chelsea man could well be the man to move the side into their next era.
Do Blues fans think that Hughes will still be in a job in six months time?

I’d bet my house on it. The current board have shown more wisdom in the scant few months they have been in charge than any other dating back over 30 years. Also ,check the source’s of this scoop, none other other than those bastions of british journalism the Sun and the erm…. Blackpool Gazette. Please.

Let Hughes be. Let him coach this squad for a minimum of 4 years, or longer and allow him to make it his own. Hughes still has some baggage left over from Sven and Stuart (though in their defense, they did leave Sparky some quality players too). Hughes has not been with the team long enough (with the new money) for him to make this team his own in terms of players that can play his system. He had to make a quick gamble on a centerback partner for Dunne but unfortunately Ben Tal Haim is soft and too slow thus he is not the perfect for Dunne. So Dunne has had to play nearly every match with a different back line. Garrido is not top quality and Dunne is covering for him so eventually Dunne will run out of gas and/or luck. Last few games it was both. I like Dunne. Put players of his quality with him the back line and we should be able to play Hughes style of ball. But as the squad sits, that style puts too much pressure on the defensive side of the ball trying to deal with counter-attacks and numbers against you. No continuity. The Squad has questions in the midfield too. The mold here is a free wheeling attacking team, which is great but you better have the best back 4 in the game if that is what you are going to do becasue they will be under constant counter attack as we have all seen. Kompany is great at Holding Center Mid. Tough as nails and a decent distributor of the ball. But in order for the attack to work, not only does he have to get forward but so too must a wide defender… This again exposes your backline to the counter and compounds the fact that you better have a Quality backline. If the back line aren’t the best you can get, you might want to rethink the all out, free flowing attacking mindset. That is until you can buy the backline you need…

The new owners did not buy City and expect to wait 10 years for results. Hughes record has been appalling and, after City lose to Hull this weekend, they will be mired in the relegation zone.
I believe Hughes is a dead man walking and do not expect him to be at the helm come January when the owners will want to splash out more dosh on expensive new talent - especially whan Hughes has indicated he wants to sign Blackburn players. Blackburn –come on!!!
