This White Hart Lane target is reportedly very much open to a speedy move to the Premier League, with the north London club at the top of the pecking order!
Andrei Arshavin has pleaded with Zenit St Petersburg not to price him out of a move away from the club.
The Russia striker, marooned at Zenit since a £19million valuation was slapped on him in the summer, urged his employers to value him ‘reasonably’ after missing out on a move to Tottenham during the transfer window.
He said: ‘The most important thing now is not if Real Madrid or Spurs or other clubs are interested in me, but whether Zenit want to let me go.
‘In current circumstances it’s absolutely clear no one is going to buy me for £19m.
‘So the central issue is for Zenit to set a reasonable price. Once it’s set then it should be possible to discuss potential buyers and where I personally would prefer to go.” (Daily Mail)
Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin admits he’d welcome a move to England.
Tottenham are interested in the Russia international, who said: “The Premier League interests me a lot. It’s another league that I like.
“It’s an honour that major clubs (like Tottenham and Bayern Munich) are interested in me. I haven’t lost hope that I will be able to leave Zenit in the next two months.” (tribalfootball.com)
If these quotes have been indeed correctly attributed to the Russian, then Harry Redknapp and Daniel Levy should discuss if they still want the talented attacker. After all, he almost joined the club in the summer, and could still do a fantastic job. Zenit have previously stated earlier this week that they are fully prepared to give in to Arshavin’s demands, so now it’s a case of wait and see. Do Spurs fans think that the club has the money for such a bid and, if so, should they hurry up and snare Andrei?
