Ah yes, there’s one of these every year in the Cup competitions. Last year it was little Havant and Waterlooville in the FA Cup; this season that honour so far goes to Burnley, who disposed of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in a thrilling 5-4 shootout in the fourth-round of the Carling Cup.
Brian Jensen was the man of the match for Burnley as he deflected shot after shot from the Chelsea firing squad. The Stamford Bridge club threw everything they could at the Championship side; but in the end it wasn’t meant to be, as Chelsea fell out of the Cup before the quater-final round.
Whatever happened to the Bridge being a fortress? True, Chelsea didn’t play a full-strength side, but they did have Drogba starting at striker. They also only a point clear at the top in the Champions League!
So what do you make of the loss, Chelsea supporters? Is it much ado about nothing, or are you concerned for the future of your club after an embarrassing Cup loss at home?
