Apparently Rafa is planning a shocking move for an international striker who literally scores goals for fun!
The England international has recently revealed he has no intention of being reunited with Harry Redknapp at his former club Tottenham Hotspur, much to the relief of Portsmouth.
However, Rafael Benitez is believed to be considering signing another striker in the New Year to link up with Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane, and he fancies Defoe.
Tony Adams would be extremely reluctant to lose the former West Ham United striker, but this won’t stop the Reds testing the water with an ambitious bid of £11million. (fansfc.com)

Well this is indeed interesting. Liverpool could well do with another front man, Torres has been heavily relied on since his arrival at the club and even more so since Kuyt has been transformed into a very capable wide man. Rafa has been linked with a move for Zaki but I am sure that Anfield supporters would much rather see the club go for Jermain Defoe. The striker has a proven strike rate in the Premier League and even though his time at Tottenham was spent in the main behind the likes of Berbatov and Keane he still managed to score a raft of goals. It could of course be possible to some how cater for Robbie, El Nino and Defoe but this would of course be one hell of an attacking line up. As for Tony Adams threatening to quit over star sales, this could prove a big problem given the Portsmouth‘s reported financial problems. Do Liverpool fans think this source may be right about this potential bid and if so would it be a wise one?
