Xavi Hernandez one of Barcelona stalwarts looks more and more likely to be leaving the club sooner rather than later and this has intensified interest in the player from a lot of the continents top clubs and Tottenham under Harry Redknapp will throw their hat into the ring.
Redknapp is on record saying that Spurs need an accomplished defensive midfielder and his a known admirer of the player and will be prepared to bid big for the player.
Xavi at 28 is keen to try the Premiership and has told reporters he has achieved everything with Barcelona and would like a new challenge.
Considering Tottenham’s needs and Redknapp’s admiration for the player as well as Xavi’s desire to play in the premiership the rumours that Tottenham will bid look very realistic. (footylatest.com)
£22m-rated Xavi has gone from strength-to-strength over the past year and half, even if his Barcelona side have somewhat stuttered of late, and it’s hard to know why his Catalan employers can’t resolve the contract problems. This is especially when you consider that the midfielder has been at the club since he was 11! A list as long as you can imagine is forming, just in case the Spanish international does the unthinkable and leaves his hometown club, so it does make sense for Harry to register, which is what this source seems to suggest. Do Tottenham fans think they would stand a chance of capturing a player of Xavi’s calibre?

He is quality and world class…if spurs can get him,it will be the biggest capture since Gazza and we will have a complete midfields lineup.

I am a gooner and don’t see why he wouldn’t choose you, but more realistically and of concern to us is that his move could be to pave the way for Fabregas. If that is the case and Cesc wants to go then Mr Wenger could do worse than insist he is part of a swap deal. We would need him to cover the loss of Cesc while Ramsey and Wilshere mature.

Seriously, why write this? I would stake everything I’ll ever earn in my entire life on Xavi staying at Barsa until he retires, and even in the astonishingly unlikely event that he does leave he’d go to Milan, Juventus, Inter or Man United only. Tripe like this is why the rest of the league see us as delusional fans.
