According to this source, a Russian star has more or less bought his plane ticket and is about to leave his Zenit teammates, but where will he go?
Zenit St Petersburg boss Dick Advocaat admits he could lose several of his top players in the coming months.
Tottenham are chasing Andrei Arshavin and Advocaat conceded: “We have played well this season, and for that reason other European clubs want to pick up our players.
“Next season, if necessary, we will build a new team.” (tribalfootball.com)
This is yet more evidence, if needed, that all this back-and-forth will soon be over. Andrei Arshavin will leave the club he has been at since he left school, but where will he go? Spurs are of course one of the front runners, but the mercurial talent is also being tracked by Real Madrid, Barcelona and a host of Italian clubs. Does Harry Redknapp want him? Well apparently he is a big fan.
Could the club benefit from his talents? Yes, clearly he would be a big bonus for any side, let alone one still very much in a relegation battle. So finally, can the club afford the fee? Well that’s a tough one to answer, but their spending in the summer was greatly tempered by the £60 or so million they recouped from sales, so I would imagine there is money in the kitty. Do Spurs fans want to see AA at the club?
