Tottenham and Arsenal supporters: Which club suffered the more shocking loss on Saturday?
by offsidetrap on November 17th, 2008Two London clubs were hit with some bad news on Saturday. For Tottenham, a club that was riding the feel-good vibes of new manager Harry Redknapp, their loss to Fulham couldn’t have come at a worse time. With a number of potential relegation clubs picking up points, Spurs moved from above the relegation line to second from the bottom. My how one game changes things!
Arsenal on the other hand blew all of their momentum from the previous weekend with a shocking loss to Aston Villa. This was the same Villa team that hadn’t recorded a victory in their last two outings. Not only that, but Arsenal lost lost for the second time at the Emirates in as many matches. The lack of passion and quality on the pitch is a major concern that should leave Arsene Wenger wondering if the club can retain their top four place this season.
Both clubs suffered shocking losses over the weekend; we both know that much is true. But which one had the more shocking loss? Was it Tottenham’s loss to Fulham, or Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa? Let us know in the comment box below!

I don’t even think it’s close. Arsenal. They were at home to Villa. Not to mention that only last week they got themselves back into the title race against Man Utd and now those 3 points have vanished. It really seems like anybody can go to the Emirates and take something from it. Also, you may not believe me, but only Chelsea and Liverpool have a better record than Fulham at home. So yes, definitely Arsenal.

Arsenal, clearly. Spurs have spent most of the season losing.
gerrard is a diver - November 18th, 2008 at 7:58 am
spurs had to lose sometime under harry and away to fulham is no shame they have a fantastic home record and some good quality players,
Arsenal on the other hand after beating man u showed the worl that they cannot win the title win this inconsistency im not saying villa are a bad team far from i reckon they could be 4th this year if they themselves can be consistent but arsenal want to win the league then they should be beating villa at home , man u will go to villa park and beat them this week , theres the difference
Shannon - November 18th, 2008 at 8:25 am
Neither defeat was shocking. Fulham had shown some good form, especially at home and I always knew Spurs were in for a tough time. Arsenal are just overrated. The pretty football is not always effective and despite a win over Man U I think anyone can fancy their chances against that emotionally frail lot.
Noel - November 18th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Spurs’ result was the worst as it put them back in the relegation zone but to be perfectly honest neither result was a shock. Fulham have been strong at home this season, and Villa are a strong but inconsistent side.
I think that after Arsenal beat Man Utd last weekend nobody other than Arsenal and their fans were under any kind of illusion of them mounting a serious title challenge. With their overall inconsistency this season and comic defending from their centre backs, fourth place is probably their most realistic league target this season.

spurs top four team BOLLOX
Steve McMahon - November 18th, 2008 at 11:20 am
Arsenal, but nobody should be taking Villa lightly, there a good team, full of pace. They will be sniffing around 4/5th place come the end of the season. Spurs were just living and playing on adrenaline since Harry took over, no one can be really surprised that they lost at the weekend, Harry is not a miracle worker, the same players that got Spurs into trouble before Harry arrived are still there. All in all Spurs are a poor team and the league dosent lie, any one can beat anyone in a cup game, but the league just dosent lie.
calvo - November 18th, 2008 at 11:22 am
the most damaging would have to be arsenal, spurs have been languishing in the bottom half of the season and while they have been on a good run of late the emphasis for them is realistically to finish mid-table whereas arsenal for them its champions league or title of which they seem inconsistent to compete for both.the win vs utd could have gone either way really and what happened against villa has been coming for a while.should arsenal not get at least fiinish 4th then results not just against villa but hull, fulham etc will be the reason aswell as no guidance on the pitch.having youngsters is one thing having no one to lead them is down to the manager.having said that the battle is not arsenal vs the top 3 but against villa, for 4th(at present).arsenal should be optimstic about their season as its only november but the reality is that they are in for a long season of which the squad does look frail…mentally.it would seem that wengers principles while they should be applauded could utimatelt cost arsenal not only their season but their players i.e.cesc etc.

Liverpooooool win the EPL BOLLOX
yid boy - November 19th, 2008 at 3:57 am
thats right anyone can win a cup game, but i think when you add the league result too, it amounts to something quite special. liverpool have lost two games all season both to us hahahahahahahahaha
its very hard to have any sympathy for any top 4 team these days, all over payed primadonna’s who wont play for their country. in the old days all you would get was a cap and you were the proudest you could be, you made it and represented your country. All you gained was literally a cap and the recognition, These days the cap is just a word and all they are really interested in is the money and other bonuses, there’s no national pride any more
pete - November 19th, 2008 at 8:05 am
we are talking about the ungrateful wanker they call jaimie carragher arent we the one who write in his autobiography that when england got knocked out the world cup he couldnt give a shit as long as it wasnt liverpool. what a twat a fucking disgrace to those three lions peter beardsley would of turned in his grave (if he was dead)
Steve McMahon - November 19th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Well done to the Spurs!!
Rob Styles - November 20th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Both Sucks…arsenal’s going to have another barren season and spurs are going to be relegated!
HAHA!
pete - November 20th, 2008 at 11:29 am
YAWN. BORING MR STYLES PROVE U WRONG BY THE END OF THE YEAR SAME AS LIVERPOOL NOT WINNING THE LEAGUE IT JUST WONT HAPPEN LIKE SPURS GOIN DOWN DREAM ON SON CAUSE THATS ALL THEY R EVER GOIN TO DO IF U THINK LIVERPOOL WILL WIN THE LEAGUE
Rudi - November 20th, 2008 at 11:41 am
Spurs are so funny. They finished in the bottom half last year, they’ll be in the bottom half this year, they haven’t won a trophy of any consequence since the early 90’s and yet they think they are a top club.
You can slag off Liverpool for not winning the League but at least we are trying.
I think Chelsea will beat us but they can spend 18m on a full back. Their squad cost 2 or 3 times our squad, but at least we are trying.
Spurs fans sit at the bottom of the league and still have the bottle to slag off teams like Arsenal and Liverpool who have both played in Champions league finals recently.
The biggest mickey mouse club in the world.
Rudi - November 20th, 2008 at 11:48 am
And Pete, I take it you are from London. When will you realise that the rest of the country care more about their clubs than “Team England”.
He didn’t say he didn’t give a shit. He said it didn’t hurt as much as losing with Liverpool. There is a big difference.
A DISGRACE TO THE THREE LIONS. Would you ever just fuck off you childish, retarded bastard.

Carragah just came out with his comments cos he knows he is just an alehouse centre half he is very limited and average at best not good enough to play for his country ahahaha end of.
Danny - November 20th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Hey Pete, I am glad you are proud to be English but can you try and use English when you write, the word is FOUGHT, and one of the reasons they did fight was to give us our freedom which would include Jamie’s choice to run his life how he wishes and not be dictated to. If you didn’t like him or he wasn’t good enough to play for England then his decision should have pleased you
Thank you
pete - November 20th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Now u come to it i am very pleased about that and im very pleased he scored another goal for us the other day whats that now 3 goals for spurs well done carragher nice one for that hahahahaha

worry about your own team, leave liverpool to there own devices, there are a lot of jealous people out there. liverpool will challenge for the big prizes this season and will win the league inside three years,
also 90% of scousers dont lose sleep over englands results, see we have an identity we arnt searching for ours, red till dead
pete - November 20th, 2008 at 3:02 pm

“we class u lot as scottish anyway hahahahaha”
Im crippled with laughter, your only slagging rites are honest mistakes made by others, e.g. Carraghers own goals, what a sad child you are, but your lack of reason is understandable, No success in decades, ye gloat over the odd london darby win for years, the odd cup win, your spasticated state of mind is a pittyful image. Carragher got fed up with ingurland, get over it lad, try and find something interesting at Spurs, (now there’s a challenge for you).
You should try and imagine what it is like to be off the bottom of the table, expand your mind, give it a go,
and as below

Now pull yourself into a corner shove your hand up your arse and get a good grip of yourself as you seem to be loosing all touch with reality.
And what a stupid comment you wrote below,
