Given the recent clangers that a certain Brazilian keeper has been dropping, it can be no surprise that his employers are apparently looking for a replacement!
Tottenham are being linked with a move for West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green when the January window opens.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has targeted a new keeper at White Hart Lane following yet another horror show from Heurelho Gomes at Fulham on Saturday and Green is a target.
West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola will be desperate to keep his number one but it is clear that the Hammers will have to sell players before any money is released for the Italian to spend on his own targets.
Green has been in outstanding form all season and was again impressive at the weekend as West Ham held Portsmouth to a 0-0 draw at Upton Park. The former Norwich man was the pick of the two goalkeepers when outshining England number one David James and his form has not gone unnoticed at Spurs. (eatsleepsport.com)
Yes, it’s another keeper linked with a move to White Hart Lane, but at least this one is damn good! He may well play for arch-rivals West Ham, but I am sure that most Spurs fans would be happy to nab another player from the east London side, and the figures bandied about for the England international seem to range from £6-£8m which seems about right for the former Norwich man.
West Ham need the money, and I would be very surprised if they didn’t lose a star or two in January, as the club look to balance the books to make up for the collapse suffered by the Icelandic owners, as well as the possible outlay needed to pay Sheffield United for the whole Tevez-gate saga. Do Tottenham fans think that Gomes needs replacing and, if so, who should they buy?
