FOUR key players missing for Manchester United on Saturday: Can Aston Villa take advantage?

Sir Alex Ferguson knows full well that his team can’t afford many more slip-ups, especially as the Red Devils trail Chelsea and Liverpool by eight points right now. However, there are some big injury worries ahead of Saturday’s trip to Villa Park.

The Guardian confirms that Dimitar Berbatov and Wes Brown will be out for the trip to the Midlands, while Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand are struggling to make what will be one of the toughest away games of the season. It looks as though Carlos Tevez will get a chance to impress up front for Manchester United.

“Rio is very doubtful for tomorrow, I don’t think he’ll make it,” Sir Alex Ferguson said today. “Rooney has a good chance, he trained on Wednesday and Thursday and if he comes through today he should be involved. Wes will be missing for a few weeks. There’s no timescale on it, but may be about 4-5 weeks. It’s disappointing, but we’ve got cover with Gary [Neville] and Rafael, and John O’Shea can also play there.”

While Manchester United have one of the biggest squads in the Premier League, the loss of Ferdinand might hit them hard, especially as he has such a good understanding with Nemanja Vidic at the heart of the defence. After their 2-0 win at Arsenal, are Aston Villa supporters confident that they can also do a number on the champions and leave their title dreams in tatters?
