Arsenal’s fighting team-mates are named: Should Gallas now be replaced as captain?

Arsene Wenger has probably called on his team to show some fighting spirit on countless occasions, although this is not what he had in mind! Yesterday, William Gallas was in the headlines for revealing the in-fighting that has taken place within the Arsenal camp this season, and now it appears as though the culprits names have been revealed.

The Sun are claiming that Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie clashed at half-time during the Gunners’ 4-4 draw with Tottenham. The match was all square at the interval, yet it appears as though some harsh words were exchanged between the pair, with frustration spilling over.

Gallas also revealed how he broke up a dressing-room fight between Walcott and Van Persie at the break against Spurs.

Gallas said: “There was a problem. The only thing that I could say at half-time was ‘guys, we resolve these problems after the match’.”

Gallas’ outburst conveniently coincides with the launch of his new autobiography in France today.

But he will pay a heavy price for the added publicity, with Arsenal set to fine their French international centre-back a minimum of two weeks’ wages — around £180,000.

There also appears to be talk of a ‘rat’ in the Arsenal dressing room, but it’s Gallas who surely befits this decription after dishing the dirt on what’s been going on behind the scenes. It appears as though this outburst is going to hit him in the pocket, but will Wenger finally decide to rid him of the captaincy?
