After his recent outburst, this former captain will have to look over his shoulder as this source reports that Wenger is lining up a replacement for the moaning defender!
Arsenal have already made very quick moves in their hunt for a new centre back even if they decide to keep William Gallas.
Spanish radio have reported that representatives of Arsenal have spoken to Seville in regards to their French centre back Julien Escude.
Escude is a big lumbering centre half and at 29 will bring some experience with him, he is not a regular for the National team but is seen as a safe bet.
Escude did not play in the last two games for Seville with the reasons unknown. (footylatest.com)
Even before the recent fiasco with Gallas, many fans felt that the club needed more strength in depth in the centre-back department, and this source suggests that Arsene may turn to this French international. Escude is a solid if not spectacular customer, more likely to clear to row Z than play his way out of a tough spot, but then there is nothing wrong with that. Apparently, the former Ajax man could be available for as little as 4-5m, which would be a decent sum of money to pay for a player with a decade plus to top tier experience covering France, Holland and Spanish leagues, the kind of experience that the club could well do with.
However it may be tricky to persuade the La Liga club to let him leave, but then there aren’t many Frenchmen who would turn down the chance to sign for Mr Wenger. Do Gunners fans think the club should just offload William Gallas as soon as possible or give him one last chance?
