Will we see the REAL William Gallas now that Cesc is Arsenal captain?

The events at Arsenal over the past week have been unsavoury to say the least, but could it actually turn out have a positive effect on Arsenal’s season?

After all, William Gallas may have dished the dirt on the in-fighting that has taken place at the North London club this campaign, yet he hasn’t done enough damage to be entirely removed from the squad altogether. Setanta reports that new captain Cesc Fabregas hailed the contribution made by the former Chelsea defender on Tuesday night.

“It was difficult but you could that every time he [Gallas] touched the ball it was cheering him up and he was fantastic,” the Spaniard told Setanta Ireland.

“He is a big professional and nobody doubts his commitment and he has shown that tonight again.”

The Arsenal centre half had a decent game last night, nearly getting on the end of a cross to open the scoring, but also nearly costing his side dear with a blunder. Do supporters think that Gallas might finally return to the excellent performances he displayed for Chelsea on a regular basis, especially now the pressure of the captaincy has been removed?
