These two former Anfield players have both been strongly linked with a return to the club, but which, if either, would be a wise move?
There are some who say “Never go back” but these two former Liverpool front men are both apparently very much on the lookout for a new challenge.
Emile Heskey has become something of a flavour of the month after a few decent performances for club and country but he still looks like a pointless signing that Rafa wouldn’t even consider for two seconds.
Michael Owen on the other hand may well be worth taking a punt on. The Newcastle man is of course hampered by injuries resulting from the excesses of a career that has already spanned over a decade at the top but the 28 year old (yes still only 28) can still be a wise investment. Whether Benitez made a move in January for approx £2m or waited until the summer and took the England man for nothing, it seems like an opportunity well worth considering. At the St James’ Park outfit he has managed 26 goals in 49 starts so clearly if fit he can weigh in with his fair share of goals. And surely Liverpool could do with taking some weight off El Nino’s shoulders?
What do the fans think?
