Clearly expecting a potential banana skin moment this TV channel has decided to set up its camera’s hoping to see Paul Ince squirm.
ROVERS’ FA Cup 3rd round tie against either Blyth Spartans or AFC Bournemouth has been selected for broadcast on Setanta Sports.
The match will be played on Monday January 5th, with an 8.00pm kick-off.
Rovers will find out their opponents when the two sides meet at Blyth’s Croft Park ground on Tuesday December 16th. (Blackburn Rovers Official Website)
Now I think it’s clear that Setanta haven’t picked the game hoping to see Roque Santa Cruz (if he is still at the club) scoring a shed load against lower league opposition. There is some kind of sick perversity at work here, whenever the third round draw comes along the TV people circle like vultures hoping to cash in on someone’s misfortunes and it appears that Paul Ince is their chosen target this time around. For some reason the exec’s seem to think that in this day and age the fair-weather armchair fans want to see an upset but they are sadly mistaken. The FA Cup, still clearly a wonderful competition, often throws up some quality ties but supporters are more than likely to be interested in their own clubs fate rather than deciding to sit down and watch a potential giant killing, I for one will be routing for Rovers whoever they play but will also be happy to see their opponents make a nice chunk of cash at the same time.
