Bad news for Benitez and the red half of Merseyside!
Fernando Torres will not play for Liverpool again this year as he struggles to recover from a recurring injury.
The 24-year-old is currently out of action having suffered his third hamstring injury of the season during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Marseille in the Champions League.
Initially, it was hoped Torres would be fit to return within two weeks, but after the player flew to Barcelona for a consultation with one Spain’s top muscle specialists, Rafa Benitez is now refusing to commit to a return date for the Spaniard. (Telegraph)
This is not good news, clearly without their mercurial striker Rafa’s side struggle as evidenced on Monday night against West Ham. Robbie Keane needs to prove to the fans that he wasn’t a waste of money and maybe Ryan Babel will get more of a chance to impress in a striking role over the busy winter period. However there must be some Anfield supporters who will be thinking that this injury news could well ruin any hope of a title this season so the SIMPLE QUESTION to Liverpool fans is, without Torres for a sustained period of time, can the club keep their title chase on track?
