This source outlines the purchase that Redknapp wants most…apparently!
Peter Crouch, and not Robbie Keane, is believed to be Spurs boss Harry Redknapp’s No.1 target next month.
Reports in today’s papers suggested Redknapp would off Liverpool £5million plus Aaron Lennon and Jamie O’Hara in a bid to tempt Keane back to White Hart Lane.
Keane left Spurs for Liverpool in the summer in a £20.3m switch but has struggled to make an impact at Anfield even though the Reds are top of the Premier League.
However, it is Crouch who Redknapp is believed to be keen on signing, reports the Evening Standard. Redknapp signed Crouch for Portsmouth in the summer and has also been linked with Jermain Defoe. (The Metro)
Ok, now this move is more likely than a Keane return but would it happen? Personally I would have thought a move for Crouch’s strike partner Defoe would be both more likely and more useful. Having forked out £9m for the former Liverpool man in the summer Pompey are apparently not going to think about letting him go for less than £14m and that would be a big fee to pay for a player who is surely not as good as Pavlyuchenko so why sign him? Harry obviously likes the giant front man and he has more talent than many give him credit for but I don’t see this deal happening, do any Tottenham fans think it would be a good move?
